Listen to Your Intuition

We all have a superpower that is highly transformative. It’s is called our INTUITION. There are numerous interpretations of what it is and how it works. One thing that is certain is that intuition is real, but what is it and why is it important to our lives?

Intuition is that inner knowing that we can’t explain with logic. In my opinion it is our connection with a higher intelligence or energy field, which exists beyond us. You feel it within you and it just feels right. It differs from gut feelings or what our hearts may tell us in that it never comes from a place of fear. Nor is it swayed by ego or the biases of our subconscious minds. In my experience it is calm and reassuring even when it is telling me things that I don’t want to hear.

Take a moment to watch this short and informative video by Deepak Chopra.

I’ve had numerous times in my life when my intuition has guided me out of difficult situations. This includes occasions when people have lied to me and then tried to undermine my intuition. As much as anyone tries to fool you, the truth always comes out sooner or later. Trust your intuition to keep you out of trouble. It knows the truth and it will never steer you wrong.

Intuition has also so saved me from several near car accidents. Last year I was driving through a curve in Seattle when a thought popped into my head telling me that the car to my right was going to cut me off. I applied my brake and at that exact moment I narrowly avoided being hit by the other driver as she pulled into my lane without checking to see if it was clear. Our bumpers literally came within a couple inches of one another. It was that close. This happened again a few months later as I was driving down the freeway. This time it was a big truck that nearly crashed into me. When you hear that calm whisper in your head, don’t ignore it. It just might save your life!

Intuition also guides us toward our higher purpose in life if we are willing to listen to it. It knows what is right for us and if we surrender to it, it will guide us in the direction of our calling. This path may be surprising at first, but looking back on your life you will see how everything that you ever went through served a special purpose that to help you fulfill your life’s mission.

Most important have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you want to become.
— Steve Jobs

If you don’t know what your purpose is, you are probably feeling lost in life. Just going through the motions can be very frustrating. And doing work that does not serve our soul’s purpose can be a draining endeavor. All of us are tested from time to time in life. These challenges help us to grow. Your life, however, does not have to be a constant struggle. If it is, chances are that you have been ignoring your intuition.

Learning to trust your instincts, using your intuitive sense of what’s best for you, is paramount for any lasting success. I’ve trusted the still, small voice of intuition my entire life. And the only time I’ve made mistakes is when I didn’t listen.
— Oprah Winfrey

In our increasingly competitive world, a highly developed sense of intuition may also set us apart in the workplace. It can help us to make solid decisions at a faster rate. It can also be a major source for creativity and innovation. A few years back I was trying to come up with a new design for a product that I was developing with several business partners. Our prototype looked cool, but it lacked that polished look of a modern consumer electronics product. One night as I sat in my bed, I nodded off for a second and that is when the new design for our product flashed into my mind. It was so vivid and it also solve some of our engineering issues. This design did not come from me, it came through me via my intuition in what is sometimes referred to as a "flash."

Great inventors, designers, scientists and authors have learned how to harness their intuition throughout history to influence the course of mankind. Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest inventors of the last century. He was particularly gifted with intuition and predicted back in 1926 that we would one day have cell phones.

1. Meditate or spend time alone to calm your mind.

2. Immerse yourself in creative activities that make you feel blissful. Creativity connects us with our higher powers.

3. Pay attention to what your dreams are telling you.

4. Connect with nature. Hiking in the woods or swimming in the ocean ground and center us.

5. Develop awareness within your body. Yoga, tai chi and running are a great ways to do this.

Developing and improving your sense of awareness is a really important part of a Total Soulful Journey. One of the highest forms of awareness is our intuition. It not only keeps us safe, it also reveals our purpose and guides us toward our destiny. Tap into your intuition on a daily basis and it will take you to levels in your life that you could not have imagine on your own!
